The criteria, once again, were extremely strict, but it seems that even the big guns in the Internet world (the Yahoos, Googles and About.com’s) can not compete with the likes of the little guy. The world wide web is run by people who are not working for monster organizations, but those who work and toil every day to bring info to the real world.

Who is the best blogger in the world?

That’s right folks, we can now at least formally announce that the winner of the best blogger in the world prize is not someone from a fortune 500 company or some organization with billions of dollars propping up its useless yapping mouthpieces. The winner is a true visionary, someone who is bringing information and knowledge to the masses and spinning it with a variety and comedy that is rarely seen among the normal people in society.

We can not reveal at this precise time the winner of the award for legal reasons, but soon we will announce who is the best blogger in the world, so stay tuned to this site and subscribe to our RSS feed for more information as it breaks!

08 NovAnnouncement of the Best Blogger in the World – Soon!

Very soon we will announce who is in fact the best blogger in the world. We have been looking at all categories and sections and across all nations, in all languages and with input from hundreds of thousands of judges. This has not been easy, and we beg that you do not think we took our decision and our responsibility lightly.

From an initial long-list of around 54,000 websites we were able to run them through a brand new algorithm (which is patented and trademarked and copyrighted) which removed almost all of them based on the criteria which we outlined in our earlier archived posts. It’s not an easy task (in fact the computer which hosts this complex sequence has been working almost non-stop for the last 35 days).

After deleting half of the list we moved down to checking by hand some of the submissions which came in using automated software. We decided that if someone uses automation to apply for the award of Best Blogger in the World we should not just delete them automatically, as it is possible that in their job as a writer they are too busy to perform all correspondence by hand, however we don’t just want rubbish.

Finally we were left with a list of 2,000 of the world’s top bloggers. We then slowly checked every post they’ve ever written for signs of inaccuracy or mistakes.

Finally, we were left with one name.

07 NovSubject matter – What does the world’s best blogger blog about?

Subject matter is the cornerstone of anyone who wants to become the best blogger in the world. A lot of people write about a lot of topics which are as boring as watching paint dry, and receive millions of visitors and pageviews daily. Does this make them the best webmasters on the planet? Of course it doesn’t. People can write nonsense about boring topics and consistently exploit Google and other search engines and traffic to become ‘popular’ in terms of web metrics. However, web metrics are not what counts when it comes to the ‘best blogger in the world’ award – what counts is what we classify as the golden standard of information and intellectual currency.

So this is certain – the subject matter of the blog must be something pertaining to the normal lives or social lives of everyday people. When defining everyday people, it’s important not to become snobby or judgemental. We’re not talking about income or lifestyle, but something which people would objectively call ‘normal’. Once we’ve got that settled, let’s move on to some examples of content which would be suitable for a placing in the awards ceremony.

Subject matter – What does the world’s best blogger blog about?

Firstly, we should think about things which affect people in their daily lives. Food, sports, entertainent – these are items which we could easily count as applicable to the award. All of these topics would also be handled in a way that people could relate to them and can understand them, even if they’re extremely confusing and weird. There’s nothing worse than having to read through pages of jargon in order to try to find the information that you’re looking for. A blogger should keep it real, factual and simple. What’s more, a combination of these factors would surely be necessary for the winner of the prize – The best blogger in the world!

07 NovHow does influence relate to the best blogger in the world?

When we talk about influence, we don’t talk about making people do things. People with influence don’t need to instruct people to take action – in general they’ll do it without being told to because they want to make a difference and act on what they’ve been told about.

who is the best blogger on the internet

In the blog world, influence says a lot for a writer. It lets us know about what sort of content they’re producing, and also what the demographics of their users are. Some people can have a huge number of blog readers, but if they asked them all for $1, they might have a problem with the response rate. They might be able to writer five posts per day about hundreds of different topics, but what is the point of nobody reads their posts or finds them interesting or useful? There is no point.

How does influence relate to the best blogger in the world?

But how can we measure influence? It’s very difficult if we’re not able to run some sort of objective test across a number of different subjects and metrics. I’d like to be able to tell you a formula or equation which we can plug statistics into, but I won’t for two reasons. The first is that if (and I’m not confirming or denying that such an equation exists) there were such a formula readily available, then we would keep it under lock and key to safeguard the importance of our awards ceremony. If someone could clone our tracking and information then they could clone the best blogger in the world competition, and that would be a disaster for us.

07 NovThe rules of the best blogger in the world contest – Readership

When you think about what would make the best blogger in the world, you immediately think of a certain number of criteria. Let’s look at those criteria and decide which ones are the most important and which we should use to judge the contest.

The list of requirements is as follows:

- Readership
- Influence
- Subject matter
- Relationship with readers

The rules of the best blogger in the world contest – Readership

To crown the king or queen of the blogosphere, we need to think about what they do. What is their core product, and what they are offering to the people who come to their site. However, if nobody comes to their site, then they really can’t be crowned the best blogger in the world, can they? With this in mind, the readership criterian must be weighted quite highly against others. How many visitors is enough to prove readership then? Well, that is a question which many people can’t answer, but we can. Enough is a number that means that the writer couldn’t possibly be in touch with. Let me explain – this number is an amount which dwarfs the person’s ability to contact each of them in turn. We have been able to use a complex algorithm and mechanical number cruncher to work out that the precise number is 10,000 unique visitors per day at a website.

Ten thousand may seem like a huge amount of people, almost too many, and it might rule out a great number of bloggers who could conceivably be in the running to win the award of best blogger in the world (or in the history of the world). But, because there are actually thousands of bloggers out there, unless we set some sort of baseline figure it would prove impossible to find a true winner. And we will find a winner.
